THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the week-long Onam celebrations organized by the state government today at 6.30 pm at Nishagandhi Auditorium inside the Kanakakunnu Palace compound. Tourism Department Minister PA Mohammed Riyas will preside over the function. Film stars Dulquer Salmaan and Aparna Balamurali will be the chief guests. Opposition Leader VD Satheesan, Ministers, MLAs etc. will participate.

After the opening ceremony, there will be a music concert led by Vijay Yesudas and Rimi Tomy. Traditional art forms, modern art, musical performances and martial arts performances will be staged from tomorrow at 32 venues inside and outside the city. Around 8,000 artists from different parts of the state are participating in the celebrations at various venues.

The week-long celebrations will conclude on September 12 with a cultural procession and the Onam Extreme 2022 mega show organized by Kerala Kaumudi at the Central Stadium. Renowned singer Nithya Mamman and Musician Hisham Abdul Wahab will lead Kerala Kaumudi's Onam Extreme.
