THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 'Sajjam', a training program to ensure disaster preparedness literacy for families including how to survive in the event of a natural disaster, is ready. This is in a situation where natural calamities are a regular occurrence in the state. Training will be done through grama sabhas or region wise.

The plan prepared by the Disaster Management Authority was accepted in principle by the government. The cost of the project which can be completed in five years from this year is 16 crores. The message is 'disaster resilient families'. The message will be delivered to 77 lakh homes in the state. It will be implemented through local bodies under the leadership of KILA (Kerala Institute of Local Administration). The services of revenue, health and home departments will also be utilized.
