KOCHI: The state government and ANERT have come up with an innovative plan to set up charging centres across the state as electric vehicles have taken over the roads. The plan is to set up car, autorickshaw and bike charging stations at homes, hotels, malls, hospitals and private institutions.

CCS machines of 50 kW to 120 kW should be installed for this purpose. The first 100 applicants will get 25 per cent subsidy on machines. The station owner must set up a cafeteria, rest area and washroom. He can charge Rs 15 for charging a unit. Of this, five and a half rupees should be paid to KSEB and two rupees to the government. The rest of the money goes to the station owner.

The government came up with the new plan while the project of preparing charging stations at PWD resthouses and Kochi metro stations is in progress.

Guidelines

1) The subsidy is for machines that are empanelled by ANERT and have been tested and certified by a NABL-approved lab.

2) Applications can be sent to emobility@anert.in

3) Houses and establishments by the National highways, MC road and other national highways will be considered in the first phase of the project.
