THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bevco has set a record by selling liquor worth Rs 624 crore in the seven days before Thiruvonam. The corporation has gained Rs 95 crores additional profit compared to last year (529 crores). This is due to the sufficient stock of preferred brands and the rise in liquor prices.

Liquor worth Rs 117 crores was sold for Uthradam alone. Last year it was Rs 85 crores. This is in addition to the turnover of liquor supplied from warehouses to bars.

At five Bevco outlets, liquor worth more than one crore was sold. The Kollam Ashram outlet topped the list with sales of Rs.1,05,96,010. Outlets at Thiruvananthapuram Powerhouse Road, Iringalakuda, Ernakulam MG Road and Kannur Parakandi also took place in the one crore club. Bevco has a total of 268 retail outlets.
