KOCHI: The Fort Kochi Coastal Police is yet to find the source from where a fisherman was shot about one and a half kilometers away from INS Dronacharya, the training centre of the Navy.

Sebastian Francis (72) hailing from Andakaranazhi in Cherthala, who was going to unload fish from Fort Kochi side to Kalamukku in Vypin, was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon. The bullet was found in the boat. Sebastian is under treatment.

The police arrived at the naval base on the suspicion that the shots might have been fired from the guns of the navy personnel, but the authorities were not open to probe or explanation. On the day of the shooting, naval personnel had examined the bullet and revealed that it was not the type they were using.

The move of the Coastal Police is to do expert examination of the bullet and find out what kind of gun it was used in. The Navy has also launched an investigation.
