THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thomas Biju Cheeramvelil who got second rank in KEAM examination has bagged third rank in national level in the JEE Advanced exam.

In the preliminary examination, JEE Main, he was ranked 17th nationally and first in the state. Admission to IITs in the country is based on the rank in the advanced examination. Thomas Biju, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, has decided to join IIT Bombay for Computer Science. He has scored 300 marks out of 360.

RK Shishir from Bombay zone has got the first rank in advanced examination. Shishir scored 314 marks. Polu Lakshmi Sai Lohith Reddy bagged the second rank. Tanishka Kabra from Delhi zone is ranked first among the girls. Kabra secured 16th position in All India Ranking with 277 marks. The IIT admission procedures will start from today.

Thomas studied at Brilliant Study Center Pala for entrance coaching. He studied by answering 50 questions from each subject daily. Thomas Biju, who kept a distance from social media, used WhatsApp only for study purposes. He passed Plus two from Viswaprakash Central SchooL, Thirumala with 99.4 per cent marks. His father Biju C Thomas is an engineer at VSSC and mother Rini Rajan is an Assistant professor in English at Govt. Women's College. Brother Paul Biju is a Plus One student at Vishwaprakash Central School.
