CUDDALORE: The sub inspector who abducted his sister-in-law has been sacked from service. He has been identified as sub-inspector Venkitachalam (35) of Cuddalore police station. He kidnapped her to get married. The incident happened in 2018.

While working as a sub-inspector at Chettipalayam, he took his wife and younger sister in a car to visit the Madurai temple. He dropped his wife at the police check post near Madurai. He then went to Madurai with his sister-in-law.

The police had arrested him on the complaint lodged by his wife. He was released on bail and continued in service. He was later transferred to Cuddalore police station. The Coimbatore DGP issued an order dismissing Venkitachalam after departmental inquiry found him guilty.
