MP and Animal activist Maneka Gandhi has released a video against the fake reports that are being circulated in media, especially in Kerala regarding the Supreme Court’s oral observation on the street dog issue in Kerala.
On Friday, it was widely and wrongly reported in media that Justice Sanjiv Khanna remarked that the people who feed street dogs should be held responsible for their bites and they would have to bear the treatment expenses of people bitten by those dogs.
Mrs Maneka Gandhi has given the clarification on this and asserted that the repot was an utter lie.
“It has come to my notice that some extremely irresponsible news channels and social media people are spreading the rumour that the Supreme court on Friday said that animal feeders should be held responsible for their bites and they would have to pay for the same but this is totally fake news. We were there in the court as were all the top laywers in the country. No court, No judge Nobody said that. It was actually said by the lawyer from Kerala who filed the case against street dogs. This report is 100 pc fake. He then called an irresponsible reporter from LiveLaw channel and he published the false news. As soon as the editor came to know that this was fake news he removed it. But by that time people who were looking for some kind of weapon against animals had spread this rumour far and wide, she said.
