THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A court has issued a bailable warrant against former Congress MLAs MA Waheed and AT George in the case of allegedly manhandling the former MLA KK Lathika in the assembly. The order was issued by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. The court issued the warrant because the accused failed to appear in court three times in a row in violation of a court order.

The action of the court is based on the petition filed by KK Latika in the court alleging that the then MLAs insulted her in the assembly. In her petition, the incident leading up to the case took place during the ruckus in the Assembly on March 13, 2015, over budget presentation. In her petition, she alleged that MA Waheed manhandled her and acted in an insulting manner to womanhood while she was raising slogans against the then minister KM Mani. She also accused George of hitting her with his elbow several times. Lathika stated that she approached the court because the police did not file a case despite her complaint.
