THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One of the twins travelling with their mother died after their scooter overturned and fell into the canal from the bridge. The dead is five-year-old Pavin Sunil. The other twin injured and his mother Manju have been admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

The accident happened Thursday morning near the Maradi Junction on the Chengavila Road in Neyyatinkara Charottukonam. Manju, who was going to school with her children in her scooter fell into the canal while crossing the bridge which had no parapet. The scooter fell on top of Pavin leading to his death. Though the locals got engaged in rescue operations, his life could not be saved. His body is kept in the mortuary of Parassala Taluk Hospital.
