THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that 21 people have died of rabies in the state so far this year. 15 of them were unvaccinated and an expert committee has been appointed to investigate all the deaths in detail, added CM in the press conference.
The number of stray dogs has increased in the state. Killing stray dogs will not solve the problem. The month September is being observed as Rabies Prevention Month. The Chief Minister also announced that a intensive vaccine campaign, which will continue till September 20, has started. The Centre should ensure the quality of rabies vaccine. Pet registration will be made mandatory. If applied, the registration certificate will be received within three days, informed the CM.
