THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bhagavathy Agency staff and owner Thankarajan are happy that this year's Onam bumper of Rs 25 crores was on by the lottery sold from their agency. This is the fifth time that tickets sold from their agency have won the first prize of major lotteries.

2017 Christmas-New Year bumper, Vishu bumper, Onam bumper in 2015 with 7 Crore prize money and Summer Bumper lottery with 2 Crore in the same year were the tickets sold from Bhagavathy Agency. Apart from this, 125 first prizes have been won by the lottery tickets sold by them.

Thankarajan's lottery shops have a daily turnover of more than Rs 1 lakh. Thankarajan remembers his early days when he started lottery business 20 years ago in a small stall on one side of the road in Attingal city. Bhagavathy is the mother's name of Thankarajan, a native of Chirayinkeezhu. His agency's name became synonymous with luck as lotteries sold here started receiving prizes.

As the lotteries selling began to receive more prizes, he extended his business. In 20 years, he was able to open 21 lottery shops in the state, of which19 are in Thiruvananthapuram and two in Kollam. Thankarajan's heart is full of happiness that he too has been a small part of other's fortunes.
