THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ranjitha, the one who lost a fortune of Rs twenty-five crores at her fingertips, took the same number ticket instead. However, the series was different. Ranjitha also got lucky as she won a consolation prize of Rs 5 lakh.
Since yesterday, everyone has been looking for Ranjitha, who had reached for the Onam Bumper first prize ticket and suddenly changed her mind and bought another ticket.
Kudappanakkunnu native Ranjitha is working as a Lab Technician at SP Fort Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. She took the ticket along with her sister Ranjusha, who is working in Technopark. This was their first lottery experiment.
While returning after work, Ranjitha reached Bhagavathy Agencies at around 6.30 pm. When she looked at the tickets, all the numbers were the same. Although she saw the ticket TJ 750605, she refused to take it. Instead, she took the ticket TG 750605. People started searching for her after a news channel showed a video of someone taking a bumper ticket and returning it.
"I knew that I won the prize when I saw the result announcement at home with my family. When I took the ticket from the cupboard, I found out that it was a consolation prize. I'm not sad about losing the bumper prize. I went to take the ticket at the last moment at my sister's insistence. I will share the prize money with my sister," Ranjitha said.
