MALAPPURAM: The Muslim League leadership has put a lid on the ongoing conflict between KM Shaji and PK Kunhalikutty before it could blow up. Shaji began the war of words after criticizing Kunhalikutty for his mildness towards the left government.
Yesterday, the Muslim League State President, Sadiq Ali Thangal, summoned Shaji to Panakkad and warned him not to publically speak about things that must be kept within party circles. Sadiq Ali also asked Shaji to avoid giving controversial statements and if these are violated then strict actions will be taken.
KM Shaji was summoned to Panakkad after his speeches were continuously becoming controversial. State General Secretary, PMA Salam, and Prof. Abeed Hussain Thangal MLA were also in the meeting that lasted for an hour.
The Muslim League leadership asked Shaji not to go with actions that will hamper the unity of the party. Being a popular leader among the league activists, Shaji was advised to be careful with his speeches and actions.
Shaji replied that he will be more careful in the future and said that his aim was not to make the party defensive in public.
Sadiq Ali Thangal while speaking to the media said that PK Shaji can speak on any issues at party meetings. As a disciplined party worker, Shaji, has accepted to every concerns raised by the leadership.
Thangal added that with this all the controversies in the party has come to an end.
PK Kunhalikutty has been upset about Shaji’s continuous criticism against him. Shaji has been criticizing Kunhalikutty in many party forums of taking a soft stand against the ruling left government. This made Kunhalikutty approached Thangal and explained that this criticisms can lead to the rumor that the Muslim League has two groups.
This prompted Sadiq Ali Thangal to summon Shaji and demand an explanation. Shaji has not responded to the media since the meeting.
