KANNUR: The police conducted raids in shops suspected of having links with the Popular Front of India (PFI). The raids by Kannur Town SI was held at the hyper market near Kannur police station. Police seized documents including computer and mobile phone from an institution. There were widespread incidents of violence in Kannur during the hartal called by the PFI. The raid is being conducted with the objective of finding the source related to the conspiracy of the hartal and the financial resources of the leaders.
The inspection was mainly conducted in the institutions related to the PFI activists and in the institutions in which the activists have shares. Apart from Thana, raids were conducted at Kannur Prabhat Junction, Mattanur, Chakarakall, Iriti and Uli. It is reported that the police is preparing to raid some other establishments in Kannur as well. The raid is on the instructions of Kannur ACP Rathnakumar.
