BENGALURU: In a horrific incident in Karnataka's Chikkaballapur district, three of a family committed suicide fearing that their daughter had eloped with a low-caste youth. The incident took place last Monday. The deceased are Sreeramappa (69), Saroja (55) and Manoj (25), residents of Handiganala village.

Sreeramappa had filed a complaint with the police saying that her daughter Archana (28) has gone missing. Suspecting that her daughter had eloped with a Dalit man, her parents and brother decided to take their lives. The police said that the three died after writing a suicide note saying that their daughter is responsible for their death. Archana was in love with a man for three years. The police said that they have not been able to find the daughter yet.
