THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thousands of children took their first step into the world of letters yesterday on Vijayadashami. Hundreds of children wrote their first letters at the education initiation ceremony organized by the various units of Kerala Kaumudi.

Poet and lyricist Prabha Varma, former DGP A Hemachandran, renowned neurologist Dr Shaji Prabhakaran, writer K Gomathi Ammal and SN Public School Manager and former scientist Dr AG Rajendran and others initiated the children into the world of letters in the function held at SNDP Hall, Pettah. Kerala Kaumudi Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha Unit Chief S Vikraman, Deputy Editors VS Rajesh, AC Regi, General Manager (Sales) Sreesagar, Production Head KS Sabu etc. handed over gifts to the teachers. Family Plastics, Benadone, Jayaram Bakery (Medical College) and SN Public School Chengottokonam gave attractive gifts to the children who stepped into the world of letters.
