PALAKKAD: Tourist bus driver Jomon has said that the sudden braking by the KSRTC bus caused the accident in Vadakancherry. Jomon said that he lost control of the bus after it hit the rear of the KSRTC bus.

According to Jomon, the KSRTC bus braked suddenly as a passenger was about to get off the bus at the spot where the accident occurred. Jomon told the police that there was no room on the road for the tourist the bus to pass and people, including him, were thrown out of the bus. He also said that did not fall asleep while driving.

However, a passenger, who survived the accident, said that no one got off the KSRTC bus at that place. "I was initially standing at the back of the bus. I later went forward as my stop was nearing. I clearly remember the accident as I was not asleep," the passenger said.

Meanwhile, the Transport Commissioner has given a report stating that the mistake of the tourist bus driver resulted in the accident. The report stated that the tourist bus was overspeeding and even tried to overtake a car through the left side. However, Jomon did not mention anything about the car in his statement to the police.
