THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has announced that SilverLine land acquisition has not been abandoned despite the uncertainty regarding Centre’s approval and controversy over stone laying. The Revenue Department on Friday issued an order extending the tenure of the officials in Special Deputy Collector and Special Deputy Tehsildars’ office appointed for land acquisition by one year.
But the Revenue minister's office explained that the order was issued to avoid the situation of non-payment of salary for the last two months due to not receiving continuation permission. The term was completed on August 17. Continuation permission has been given for seven posts in the office of Special Deputy Collector in Ernakulam centre and for 18 posts in the office of Special Tehsildar. 11 units of special tehsildars consisting of 18 officers each have been appointed in the state.
Apart from the post of Special Deputy Collector, each post of Junior Superintendent, Head Clerk, Office Attendant, Computer Operator and two clerical posts are allowed to continue. In the Special Tehsildar offices, one post each of Junior Superintendent, Valuation Assistant and Office Attendant, three Revenue Inspector posts, two Senior Clerk posts, four Surveyors, two Clerk posts and three Village Field Assistant posts have been allotted.
