NASHIK: 11 people were killed after a bus had caught fire in Maharashtra. The accident took place on Aurangabad Road in Nashik around 5.15 am today. The bus caught fire after hitting a truck. 38 people were injured in the accident.

The bus, which had left Mumbai, collided with a truck when it reached the Aurangabad Road. Following the crash, it had caught fire, said the eyewitnesses. The injured were admitted to various hospitals in Nashik. As per reports, some of them are in critical condition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that the state government will pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the family members of the deceased. The state government will bear the medical expenses of the injured.
