THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Adani Group has sought government intervention to end the Vizhinjam port strike. A report has been submitted to the Chief Secretary asking for a settlement of the strike by including the losses suffered.

In the report it states that they are unable to bring stones to continue the construction work. The construction work of the project has been completely stopped for 53 days. Rs 100 crore have been spent so far on the construction of the port. The impact of the strike will affect the project for six months, cited the report. The High Court had earlier ordered to demolish strike pandal on Vizhinjam. The court will hear the case again next week.

At the same time, Minister Ahammad Devarkovil responded that the concern of Adani Group will be taken into account. He told a private channel that he will try to resolve the crisis in Vizhinjam and will hold talks with the strike committee and the company.

The Adani Group had earlier announced that the first ship would arrive at the Vizhinjam port in May 2023. While the construction of the project was in progress, on August 16, fishermen started a strike under the leadership of the Latin Archdiocese.
