THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman and her husband were arrested for stealing gold ornaments kept for her sister’s wedding. They were arrested on the complaint of their mother. The arrested are Kiran Raj (26) of Karamana in Thiruvananthapuram and his wife Aishwarya (22).
Aishwarya stole the gold when she reached her family house in Peroor during Onam vacation. She stole the yellow metal when her mother went for work in Palakkad. Aishwarya then took the gold to her husband’s house. When her mother reached home and found the gold missing, she lodged a complaint.
The police questioned the people who were in the house at the time it went missing. Aishwarya told police that she suspects her father. In a probe conducted, the police found that Aishwarya herself had stolen the gold. The gold was recovered from Kiran Raj’s house. Half of that was artificial. The couple pawned a chain of five sovereigns and kept artificial gold in place of it. They were produced in the court.
