THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The accused who broke into Moolaikonam Siva Temple in Ulloor, Prashant Nagar and committed theft has been arrested within hours by the police. The notorious thief, Vamanapuram Prasad of Kattayakal House, Kulakara was arrested by the Medical college police. The incident happened on Friday morning.

The temple secretary informed the police about the theft. A police team led by SHO Harilal reached the spot and conducted inspection. Fingerprint experts also collected evidence from the spot. The accused was caught within three hours based on the investigation focused on the CCTV footage. He was arrested while trying to escape with the stolen items.

Rs 26,000 was seized from the accused which included a sack of coins and currency notes. The police found that the accused also broke into another house in Prashant Nagar and committed theft. Vamanapuram Prasad is the accused in 50 cases in various districts across Kerala, informed the police. The accused was produced in court and remanded.
