THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Motor Vehicle Department has said that they will seek actions from the Public Education Department and Higher Education Department against the authorities of schools and colleges that do not give prior information about excursions to the RTO.

In the high-level meeting slated today, the final decision will be made on the actions to be taken against erring educational institutions. These decisions follow the tragic accident at Vadakkanchery, where a tourist bus carrying students rammed into a KSRTC bus.

The demand is to follow the guidelines given on 7 July. The guidelines say that the trip must be on vehicles that do not have unnecessary fittings. However, this instruction is not always followed. Traveling between 9 pm and 6 am is strictly prohibited. The full responsibility for the trip will be on the heads of the institutions.

The Motor Vehicle Department will give strict orders to paint a single color for all tourist buses. The buses must be painted white with a mix of violet and gold paint on it. The instruction to make all tourist buses single-color was given last June, but it was not executed.
