THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The first rank list of Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) got cancelled on Monday as the one-year validity has expired. But no new notification has been issued. Out of 562 people in the first list, only 108 people were appointed.

It was expected that more vacancies would be reported and a few more in the rank list would get appointed. But the appointment got limited to 105 vacancies that were initially reported. 108 appointments included three NJD vacancies.

The rank lists of the three streams, which came out on October 8, 2021, were also canceled on October 7. Notification is delayed as new vacancies were not reported. The PSC has asked the government to report the vacancies. But no reply was received.

The Administrative Reforms Commission says that there are mistakes in finding posts for the first batch and new vacancies can be reported only if the rules are amended to correct it. A committee chaired by the Chief Secretary has been constituted to submit proposals for amending the rules. If the report is submitted late, then the notification cannot be issued this year. Those who cross the age limit this year will also lose the opportunity.
