KOCHI: It is indicated that the groups smuggling drugs and weapons to India and Sri Lanka have the support of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. The central agencies received this information during the investigation regarding the seizure of 200 kg of heroin from an Iranian boat.

Last Thursday, the Coast Guard seized 200 kg of heroin from the Kochi coast and handed it over to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The NCB had found that the drugs were sent by the Haji Salim gang operating from Pakistan. It is indicated that Haji Salim and his gang are getting the support of ISI. Central investigation agencies are of the conclusion that weapons and narcotics smuggling through the Indian Ocean would not have been possible without the help of the ISI.

Among those caught from the Iranian boat, four are Iranians and two are Pakistanis. The NCB has not yet released their names. They have applied to the District Sessions Court to release the accused who are in judicial custody. The investigation team believes that since they are only carriers, there is little possibility of getting information about the Pakistani team during the interrogation.
