KOLLAM: A mechanic of the Kottarakkara KSRTC depot committed suicide on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Kollam Karikkode native Anil Kumar (45). He was found hanging inside the house around 3 pm yesterday.

Anil Kumar's colleagues later came up alleging that he committed suicide due to mental torture by his higher officials. According to them, Anil Kumar, who was on medical leave for 10 days following an accident, came to duty the other day. However, the higher officials told him not to join for work. Following this, union leaders intervened and Anil Kumar was allowed to work. However, it is alleged that he faced various retaliatory actions from the officials.

The officials allegedly harassed him even while assigning duty. A letter was given in this regard to DTO yesterday by the leadership of the CITU Union. However, Anil Kumar, who was supposed to report for duty in the evening, committed suicide at home. According to sources, Anil Kumar was suffering from a severe financial crisis.
