THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman has raised a complaint that Perumbavoor MLA Eldhose Kunnappilly sexually abused her after taking her to many places. She gave this statement at the Vanchiyoor court. The woman, who is a teacher, also told the magistrate that the MLA had promised money to withdraw the complaint and that police tried to settle the case.
As per the complaint, the woman was assaulted in a vehicle in Kovalam. Then the Kovalam police asked the complainant to come to the station at 10 am on Tuesday morning to record her statement. Based on the statement, it was decided to file a case against the MLA. Last day, the woman had given a statement to the Vanchiyoor police and the magistrate that she stands firm in her complaint.
The woman also appeared at Vanchiyoor station as a case had been registered on the complaint that the woman was missing. Then the statement was recorded before the magistrate. She was missing for two weeks after a complaint was filed. The woman told the police that she first went to Kanyakumari and then to Madurai.
But Eldhose Kunnapil rubbished the woman's complaint. "I am not the type of person who would beat anyone", he said. However, the MLA was not ready to respond to the question of whether he had been to Kovalam and whether he knew the teacher. "I have not committed any such crime. Let the police investigate. There is no need to respond while the investigation is underway. I have never beaten anyone and I am not one to beat anyone. I have not seen the complaint given to the police. The police did not call me for questioning", he said.
