NEW DELHI: Although Shashi Tharoor is receiving support from unexpected quarters ahead of the Congress president elections, it is believed that it will not be a threat to senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge, who is being touted as an official candidate. Kharge is ahead of Shashi Tharoor in campaigning by covering two states in a day. Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor is finding it difficult to contact many of the eligible voters due to the unavailability of their addresses and phone numbers.

Kharge is visiting two state PCC offices in a day. While the high command is reiterating that it does not have an official candidate, several prominent leaders have come out in support of Kharge. These leaders are handing over the names of voters in each state to Nasir Hussain, Gaurav Vallabh and Dipendra Hooda, who are helping Kharge in his campaign. Ramesh Chennithala, who is coordinating the campaign, said that the representatives are united behind Kharge.

Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor's Delhi office is finding the phone numbers of voters and sending messages requesting votes. Tharoor's supporters say that the voters are responding positively and that since it is a secret ballot, they will express what they have in mind while voting.
