THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kovalam SHO Praiju G has been transferred following allegations that he was not ready to file a case against MLA Eldhose Kunnappilly on a complaint filed by a young teacher. He has been transferred to Pattanakkad station in Alappuzha. State Police Chief Anil Kant issued an order replacing Praiju with Neyyar Dam Police Station SHO Bijoy.

In her complaint, the school teacher had alleged that Eldhose sexually assaulted her several times on the promise of marriage. She also alleged that after beating her in Kovalam, Eldhose told the police that she was his wife. She complained to the magistrate that the MLA offered her money to settle the case and that the SHO tried to settle the case without filing a case.

The MLA has gone into hiding after the police registered a case under non-bailable sections. Both his phones are switched off. The MLA filed an appeal in the district court seeking anticipatory bail. The case was transferred to the Additional Sessions Court for hearing. The court will hear the case on Saturday.
