VIJAYAWADA: 24th CPI Party Congress will be held from Friday in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The public meeting will mark the beginning of the party congress. Although the previous party congress had called for the broad unity of the secular parties including the Congress, this time Congress has not been specially mentioned.
General Secretary D Raja will inaugurate the delegation meeting on October 15 morning at Vijayawada SS Convention Hall. The draft political resolution proposes a broad alliance of political parties and other organizations to strengthen the fight against the divisive and destructive politics of the RSS-BJP and to protect the Constitution.
Left unity is also considered paramount as it recognizes the role of the Left in protecting the country's fundamental values. The CPM has turned its back on the goal of communist unification announced by CPI. But the CPM party Congress has also raised the need to strengthen the unity of the left.
It is expected that the party congress will finally approve the 75-year age limit proposal in the higher councils of the party. If the proposal is accepted by the party congress, senior leader KE Ismail will be removed from the National Executive Committee. It is also noteworthy that even if this is implemented, whether Ismail will be exempted. Ismail and senior leader C Divakaran were excluded from the state council due to age limit. Prakash Babu from Kerala might be included in National Executive Committee from Kerala.
