PATHANAMTHITTA: More information has come to light as the double human sacrifice case in Elanthoor unfolds. Shafi took Rs 5 lakhs from Bhagawal Singh in two installments. It is also indicated that after the murder, he had taken off the jewellery of the victims and had pawned it in a bank in Gandhinagar.
Shafi's wife revealed yesterday that she had taken a 'Mudra' loan of Rs 3 lakh from the bank. The investigation is on whether the loan was given to his wife with the money from the sale of jewellery. At the same time, Bhagawal Singh firmly believed that sacrifice would make him rich. In the bag recovered from the pit where Rosli's dead body was found, there was a cheque of Rs 20 lakhs signed by Bhagawal Singh.
According to the police remand report, the two human sacrifices in Elanthoor were done to please 'Devi' (goddess) so that Bhagawal Singh and his wife Laila would have financial success and prosperity. The accused were remanded for two weeks yesterday.
