THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department said heavy rain is likely to lash the state on Friday. Yellow alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta and Idukki. The central meteorological department informed that there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod in next few hours and light rain at isolated places in other districts.
Reports said there is a possibility of more rain in the hilly areas. There was heavy rain in the capital city last evening. There was slight waterlogging in many places due to the intermittent rain. Water entered low-lying areas like Thampanoor and S S Kovil Road. Some areas of Kollam also received heavy rain.
The rains are due to a cyclonic system over the Comorin coast and a cyclonic system over the central Bay of Bengal. Officials suggest that proper precautions should be taken following heavy rains.
