CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Government has started a probe on whether Nayanthara and Vignesh Sivan have violated the surrogacy rules. A three-member panel led by the joint director of the health department is investigating it. The health department announced the probe following complaint that Nayanthara became a mother without following the surrogacy norms.

Vignesh had on October 9 announced that they have become parents of twin boys and had also shared the first pictures of them. The couple turned into the headlines as they became parents within four months of their marriage after claiming to have opted for surrogacy.

It is believed that treatment and delivery was at a private hospital in Chennai. The investigating team have collected information from the hospital. The authorities of the health department said that after the hospital probe will question the star couple if necessary.

Nayanthara and Vignesh Sivan got married in June after dating for seven years.

Reports said the surrogate woman who gave birth to the twin boys is in Dubai and was arranged by the actress’ brother who lives in Dubai. As there are no restrictions on surrogacy in Dubai, no action is likely to be taken against the celebrity couple.
