ERODE: A 15-year-old boy killed his mother for insisting to rejoin the school hostel. The shocking incident took place at Punjai Puliyampatti in Sathyamangalam taluk. Yuvarani (36), an employee of the Electricity Board, is the deceased.

Earlier, the boy studied at the hostel and returned home recently. After returning home, his marks in the exam dropped significantly. With this, Yuvarani forced her son to go to the hostel. Because of this, there was a constant fight between mother and son. Despite the insistence, the son was adamant that he would not go to the hostel. The boy told the police that he killed his mother because he would have been forced to go to the hostel otherwise.

The murder took place at midnight on Wednesday. The boy attacked Yuvarani, who was sleeping, with a large flower vase and a hollow block. Hearing the noise, her daughter rushed to the spot and saw her mother lying in a pool of blood. Neighbours heard the screams and rushed Yuvarani to the hospital, but her life could not be saved. The police has taken the fifteen-year-old into custody.

Yuvarani's husband is Arunselvan, a contractor.
