PATHANAMTHITTA: 45-year-old Suma is in shock and more than that she is relieved to have escaped from the hands of the accused in the Elanthuoor human sacrifice case. Suma, a collection employee of Adoor Mahatma Janasevana Centre, said that she escaped from Laila's hand by sheer luck. She is a native of Edappon in Pandalam.

Suma had passed Bhagawal Singh’s house on September 10 after collection. It was noon and there was no one in the road. When looked seeing a kavu in front of their house, saw Laila standing there. Laila asked her whether she had food. When she said ‘no’ invited her home lovingly. When she said that she will go home and have food, she said at least come and drink a glass of water from here. Suma said that she felt like leaving the place as early as possible after noticing her unusual behaviour whom she is not acquainted with.

When Laila forced her again, she asked her to donate something for the Janasevana Centre. Laila donated Rs 60. When the two were talking, Suma saw somebody peeping from inside. Seeing the visuals of the accused in TV, she understood that it was Bhagawal Singh. Padma was murdered two weeks after this incident.
