CHENNAI: The police have arrested a teacher in a POCSO case after her 17-year-old student and lover committed suicide. The incident occurred at Ambattur, which is 50 km from Chennai. The police say that the boy committed suicide after the 29-year-old teacher backed off from the relationship.

The arrested teacher was employed at a government-aided school. She had taught this student for three years. He used to visit the teacher at her house along with his friends to clear doubts. This is how they fell in love.

However, when the marriage of the teacher was fixed, she backed off from the relationship. The victim, unable to face the loss, committed suicide. He was found dead after his 12th-standard exams got over.

His mother had requested the police to investigate the reason behind her son’s suicide. It was this investigation that finally uncovered the romantic relationship between the teacher and the student and the circumstances that led to his demise.
