THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala University Teachers Organization has asked the Vice Chancellor to withdraw the decision to grant the Credit and Semester Courses conducted directly by University’s Education Department to outside institutions.

The University decided to grant 30 seats each to HLL Management Academy under the management of Hindustan Latex and to Agricultural Cooperative Staff Training Institute in Manvila. The teacher’s organization alleged that the University had entered into an agreement with these institutions by violating the guidelines and rules.

Kerala University directly controls the conducting of exams, the appointment of teachers, admissions, etc. to its management institutions. However, the two institutions that are granted the courses have no direct relationship with the University. The teacher's organization says that it will ruin the transparency in the examination process.

Meanwhile, the University has said, in a press release, that the decision to allow the course was taken by the Syndicate. There is no need for AICTE approval for the courses conducted directly by the University. These institutions were allowed MBA evening courses by Kerala University.

The University will directly control the course fee, admissions, approval for teachers' panel, syllabus, examination, and valuation.

The University also clarified that it took into consideration the experience of the institutions to run academic courses, basic infrastructure, expert teachers, etc.
