THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reports say that there would be crucial decisions in the next Cabinet meeting, due next week, to settle the agitation against the Vizhinjam project. The Chief Minister’s decision will be significant for the settlement. The Chief Minister’s Office is monitoring the situation at Vizhinjam.
The government is hoping that the protest committee will agree to a compromise. However, the committee has announced that it will block roads on Monday.
The government will not take stringent actions against the protesters and will also not enter into an argument with the Adani Group concerning financial loss incurred by the company.
It is believed that the government will transfer its share of Rs.800 crore, for the construction of the port, to Adani Group, without delay. According to the contract, when the construction costs reach Rs.400 crores, the rest will be given. The first installment of the money will be given to Adani Group only after getting an assurance from them about the time when the project will be completed.
Till now, the Port Department took the stand that as construction is not completed in a timely manner, the next installment of the money will be provided only after inspection.
