THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rs.1.17 lakhs is found missing from the daily collection amount at the KSRTC Central Unit. There was a difference in the amount collected and the amount deposited in the bank.

Five employees, including the depot Superintend, have been suspended by the management on the basis of the primary report submitted by the Vigilance after an investigation.

The suspended employees are Superintend Suresh Kumar, Assistants Anil Kumar, Uday Kumar, Jose Simon, and Suresh.

The malpractice was observed in the amount collected since 2 September. When a shortage of Rs.25,000 was noticed a detailed examination was done and a difference of Rs.1.17 lakhs was found.

It is not clear if this is a financial fraud or an error in keeping the vouchers. A daily revenue of Rs.40 lakhs to Rs.50 lakhs is collected at the central unit. During the fuel crisis, the collection amount was directly paid for diesel. It is said that the vouchers that were left might have led to a shortage in the calculation.
