KOLLAM: Two ships were docked at the Kollam port for refueling and for collecting fresh water and food supplies. Dolphin 2 and Vamshi 5 are the two ships which were carrying construction materials from Kakkinada port in Andhra Pradesh to Mundra port in Gujarat. They anchored at the Kollam port around 11.30 am on Saturday.

The fuel was stocked by yesterday evening. On Sunday, they will collect food and fresh water and leave for Gujarat by 8 am. A huge dredger that belonged to Adani, which was brought to Vizhinjam port for construction, also arrived at Kollam port last Thursday. Kollam port has great potential for bunkering of ships as it is adjacent to the international shipping channel.

As there is no emigration point, this possibility cannot be fully utilized. There is also the chance of changing the crew on ships that approaches for refueling. But the staff cannot disembark at the port as there is no emigration point.
