KANNUR: The Congress president polls will be held tomorrow after two decades. Even though the congress says that Mallikarjuna Kharge is not an official candidate, the leaders are almost supporting him. Despite being a Malayali, the vast majority of Congress leaders in Kerala are not supporting the other candidate Shashi Tharoor. KPCC chief K Sudhakaran came forward blaming the party leaders in southern Kerala for pointing their support to Kharge.

After misinterpreting the Ramayana story in an interview to an English media, Sudhakaran said leaders from North Kerala are brave and can be trusted regardless of political differences. He also said the leaders from South Kerala cannot be trusted. Ramayana story was misinterpreted to clarify this. Sudhakaran shared a story. ‘Lord Rama was returning with his brother Lakshman and wife Sita after killing Ravana. When the Pushpaka Vimanam was passing through the southern parts of Kerala, Lakshman thought of pushing his brother to the sea and flee with Sita. However, when reached Thrissur, his mind changed and regretted. Rama knew this and said, ‘It is not your fault and it lies with the land we covered.’ His crooked answer was to a question on the general character of the leaders of Kerala.

What Sudhakaran said about Tharoor is, ‘Tharoor is a good man. However, Tharoor has no operational legacy in organizational matters. He is just a trainee. Tharoor's experience in the political field is limited. He is wise and capable but those qualities alone will not be enough to lead a party.’ Kharge has grown up working at various levels of the party and his experience is sufficient to lead the party.
