CHENNAI: Actor Nayanthara and director Vignesh Sivan had earlier announced that they have become parents to twin boys. The news sparked a lot of controversies. The main allegation was that the couple had violated the surrogacy rules. Tamil Nadu health department has also announced a probe into the matter. Now, new details regarding the issue have come out. It is reported that Nayanthara’s Malayali relative was the surrogate for the star couple.

The surrogate handles the actor’s business in Dubai. The couple have stated this in the affidavit submitted to Tamil Nadu health department. It was earlier reported that the delivery took place at a fertility clinic in Chennai.

Vignesh Sivan had announced through social media on October 9 that they have become parents of twin boys. Following this, several controversies arose over surrogacy. According to surrogacy rules in India, a couple is eligible for surrogacy only if they had been married for five years. So, the Tamil Nadu government has ordered for an enquiry soon after the announcement citing this rule.

But Nayanthara and Vignesh had stated in the affidavit that there were no legal problems in becoming a mother through surrogacy within four months of marriage. In the affidavit submitted to the Tamil Nadu health department, the star couple stated that their marriage was registered six years ago and the surrogacy procedures started last December. They have also submitted the marriage registration certificate along with the affidavit.
