THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president K Sudhakaran apologized for his misinterpretation of Ramayana and his comments on political leaders. He responded by retracting the remark and apologizing if offended anyone. Sudhakaran opined that he did not mean to defame anyone or bifurcate north and south. He said that he is withdrawing his statement. He said an old story circulating in Malabar.
Sudhakaran made the controversial remarks about the political leaders of Malabar and South Kerala in an interview given to an English media. Sudhakaran said that the trainee reference was never made against Shashi Tharoor and it was used by the media itself, but Tharoor was a newcomer in organizational work and had not held any position. ‘There is a difference between Malabar and Travancore,’ he was asked in an interview whether his style of politics is a reflection of this. He said that he has heard such a story when he was young.' Sudhakaran responded that he only said that.
The story he said was ‘Lord Rama was returning with his brother Lakshman and wife Sita after killing Ravana. When the Pushpaka Vimanam was passing through the southern parts of Kerala, Lakshman thought of pushing his brother to the sea and flee with Sita. However, when reached Thrissur, his mind changed and regretted. Rama knew this and said, ‘It is not your fault and it lies with the land we covered.’ His crooked answer was to a question on the general character of the leaders of Kerala.
