THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM politburo has given a strong reply to Governor Arif Mohammed Khan's tweet that action will be taken including withdrawal of ministers if the dignity of the governor’s post is lowered. The politburo in a statement, reminded the Governor that no such dictatorial powers were given to the Governor by the Constitution. By making the statement, the Governor revealed his political bias and enmity with the LDF. The politburo requested the President to ban Governor's remarks and ensure that such statements are not made again.
Meantime, CPM state secretary M V Govindan openly said the governor's threat to withdraw the ministers if they criticize him is ignorance of the constitution and parliamentary democracy. Govindan in a statement said the governor has no authority to withdraw ministers and can appoint and remove ministers only on the advice of the chief minister. The CPM state secretary demanded that the governor withdraw from such attempts as they would tarnish democracy.
