CHENNAI: A report submitted has sought a detailed investigation into the cause of death of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. The report contained shocking details of the inquiry panel entrusted to probe her death. The commission led by former judge A Arumughaswamy clarified that the former chief minister was not in good terms with her confidante V K Sasikala in her last days and that the then chief secretary Dr Rama Mohana Rao committed criminal misconduct.


The commission report will be submitted to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly today. When the DMK government came to power under the leadership of K Stalin, one of the first decisions announced was that Jayalalithaa's death would be investigated. The report was handed over to the government in August itself.

The report also contains serious findings against the management of Apollo Hospital, where Jayalalitha was treated. The commission found Apollo Chairman Dr Pratap Reddy to have presented false information to the public. The report also made strong observations against then health minister C Vijayabhaskar. Jayalalitha died on December 5 in 2016.
