THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday responded to the controversy over the Governor's tweet against the ministers. The Chief Minister said that one should act according to the Constitution and that one should not make a mockery of oneself.

"It is not the way of our society to say that no one should criticize anyone. The Constitution gives us the freedom to criticise, self-criticise and express opinion," the CM said.

"The duties and responsibilities of the Governor are in the Constitution. Dr BR Amdedkar had pointed out that the discretionary powers of the governor are very narrow. The constitution designates the leader of the party or front which has won the majority in the elections as the chief minister. Ministers are decided by the Chief Minister. A minister tenders resignation to Chief Minister. The Chief Minister will hand it over to the Governor. The Governor should take a decision based on the advice of the Chief Minister," he added.
