THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has clarified government’s stance on the hunger strike by social activist Daya Bai seeking justice to Endosulfan victims. He stated that the government has taken an empathetic attitude towards the strike. Out of the demands put forward by the protest committee, all except setting up AIIMS in Kasargod will be accepted by the government, said CM.

"The government has no ambiguity about Endosulfan victims. In Kasaragod Medical College, Endosulfan victims are given priority and it will continue. Medical camps will also be organized in Kasaragod. The assurances given by the government will be implemented and hence Daya Bai should end the strike", demanded Chief Minister.

Daya Bai was on a hunger strike in front of the Secretariat for more than weeks. She was transferred to General Hospital the other day with police intervention. Health Minister Veena George and Minister R Bindu came to the hospital and requested her to end to the strike, but Daya Bai did not agree. She was adamant that she would continue the hunger strike until all the demands raised by the protest committee were accepted.
