KOZHIKODE: A controversy erupted in the Muslim League after Panakkad Hyderali's son Mueen Ali Shihab Thangal attended a meeting of IUML dissidents in Kozhikode on Tuesday. The meeting was convened by KS Hamza, who was sacked from the post of league state secretary for breach of discipline. The meeting also decided to form a foundation in the name of Hyderali with Mueen Ali as its president.
KS Hamza was suspended from the League for leaking news to the media after criticizing PK Kunhalikutty at the Muslim League Working Committee meeting held in Ernakulam. A meeting was called under the leadership of Hamza, who brought together a section of leaders, those who were subjected to party action at various stages and those who were dissatisfied with the leadership. Hamza not only convened the meeting but also invited Panakkad Mueen Ali Thangal, National Vice-President of the Youth League, to inaugurate the formation of the Hyderali Thangal Foundation and the commemoration meeting. Sources said that Mueen Ali came to the meeting despite the League state leadership trying to prevent him from attending the meeting. The meeting named Mueen Ali Thangal as Chairman of the foundation and KS Hamza as General Convener.
Present league state working committee member Abdul Khader and around 13 district office bearers attended the meeting. MSF state leaders, who were expelled from the party on the Haritha issue, also attended the meeting,
