VIJAYAWADA: The 24th Party Congress of the CPI concluded with a call for a broad alliance of Left, secular and democratic parties to defeat the RSS and BJP. The party congress accepted the political stance without significant changes in the stance emphasized in the draft political resolution. The name of Congress was not specially mentioned this time.

However, a notable thing is that during the delegate discussion held in the party congress in the past few days, many people have raised doubts about the validity of a broad secular alliance without the Congress. Rajaji Mathew Thomas from Kerala also raised the same question.

However, the leadership clarified in its reply that they are not completely rejecting the Congress. Congress may also be a part of the broad alliance. However, there is no need to give special consideration to the Congress. CPI sees no special consideration for the Congress alone in the political situation of the country.

CPI’s announcement for the need of a broad alliance is considered as an approach similar to CPM. The party congress ended with a declaration to strengthen the party. The base of the party should be strengthened by fostering mass struggles. The CPI proposes to emphasize the strengthening of left unity in the realization that only the left can wage an ideological struggle against the RSS.
